MUSICAL  HISTORY  OF  TRACY  LYNN

Even as a little kid, I always enjoyed singing!  I started learning how to play the flute in grade school, but it didn't hold my interests for long because I couldn't sing and blow at the same time! :)  At age 10, I saw some teens playing guitars and singing in church; it really perked my interests to do the same, so I began taking guitar lessons at the age of 12.  Among my favorite songs were sung by John Denver and Karen Carpenter.

My Mother saw an ad in the newspaper announcing a variety show with Bill Riley Talent Search in Iowa (still active in early 2022), and I registered for it.  This began several years of performing in their shows.  I played on their television program as well as at the Iowa State Fair.  In addition, I was on a few telethons raising money for different things similar to the late Jerry Lewis’ MDA each Labor Day.  All of these performances occurred during the 1970’s, and I enjoyed them all!

Then life happened, and the performances stopped for a few decades.  Other interests took over and playing music was put on the back burner, so my guitars found their new home in a closet.  I had my memories to take with me and buried the rest ~ really thought performing was all over for me and part of my past ~ until the year I turned 50.

One day after church services, a lady who was sitting beside me said that I have a nice voice and she enjoyed hearing it.  In her own way, she encouraged me to start playing guitar again!  This time I began doing Christian songs and playing them for my congregation; they really encouraged me by their positive feedback.  Then I began working on the songs posted in this website; 20 of them are one-of-a-kind originals, and two have been modified substantially from their original versions.

Among my favorite musical Scriptures in the Bible is Ephesians 5:19: “Address each other in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart.” We are given our talents and abilities for the reasons of praising God, edifying, and encouraging others in honorable service!  That, my friends, is the purpose for this website.
